Looking For An Attractive Hairstyle? Here Are 37 Hot Braids Just For You

by Ruby

Finally, summer is almost here, which means it’s time to show off your best-braided styles. You can wear protective styles any other time of the year, but because of the summer heat, most curlies prefer to tuck their hair away when engaging in outdoor activities such as traveling, swimming, and lying on the beach.

If you’re the braiding queen, we’ve gathered more than a dozen styles for you to send to your stylist to try next. But first, let’s check out some ways to take care of your braid with Bridgette Hill, a colorist, and certified trichologist, referred to as “The Scalp Therapist” by her clients.

Be Aware Of Traction Alopecia

Traction alopecia can occur if your braids are too tight, as many protective stylists are aware. To keep your hair intact, keep an eye on your stylist’s technique for any discomfort.

If clients experience discomfort, Hill advises them to speak up. “Address the discomfort immediately,” she urges. “The braider should loosen any braid in real-time to reduce discomfort.” Any reputable braider, she says, will want to know a client’s scalp sensitivity so they know how much tension to use throughout the service. As a result, you should notify your stylist as soon as you feel uneasy. Box braids should not hurt.

What You Need To Do To Maintain Your Braid

Although braids are intended to be a low-maintenance, protective style, some maintenance is required to keep both your plaits and scalp in good condition.

Hill recommends spritzing the physical braids with a moisturizing oil three to five times per week. The scalp, on the other hand, requires a little more attention because it is the foundation for healthy hair.

“The scalp should be cleansed with natural cleansing oils such as citrus-based rosemary, which should be applied with a nozzle applicator bottle weekly,” she says. “Some scalps may need a diluted shampoo every other week or so.”

If this is the case with your scalp, Hill recommends combining shampoo and water in a nozzle applicator bottle and massaging the contents onto your scalp before hopping into the shower. The mixture can sit for 5 to 10 minutes before being rinsed with a shower head. After showering, apply a moisturizing oil spray and let the braids dry naturally. If you must use a hooded dryer or blower dryer, Hill recommends keeping it at a cool temperature.

Now it’s time to look through the cutest braided hairstyle ideas and pin the best ones to show your hairstylist.
