- The day before you are going to jumbo box braid your hair, give it a hot oil treatment, wash, and condition it.
- To get rid of all the knots and tangles in your hair, use a wide-toothed comb.
- Gather all of the hair from the top of your head in sections, leaving about three inches of hair above the nape of your neck loose.
- Make a 3″ x 3″ square split in your hair using the tail end of your rat tail comb.
- Apply edge wax to the parting’s edges to smooth them, then firmly secure the hair with a hair elastic.
- To separate all of your hair and form the foundation for your jumbo box braids, repeat steps 4 and 5.
- Pick up a thick weft of hair extensions and fold it in half to form an upside down U.
- One part of your natural hair should be placed on either side of the U.
- Add your natural hair to one of the parts after dividing the hair extensions into three new portions.
- These 3 pieces should be braided all the way to the end. To secure it, burn the ends of the braid for three to five seconds.
- To make your gigantic box braids, repeat steps 7 through 10 on each section of hair.
- To properly tie and fuse the ends of all of your braids together, submerge them in a mug of boiling hot water.
