Materials Needed
- 1 tall dresser (40-45” height, 4-5 drawers)
- Sandpaper: 120-grit and 220-grit
- Chalk paint: light grey, white, and black (500 ml each)
- Acrylic paints: green, terracotta, and brown (2-4 oz each)
- Fine detail brushes (sizes 0-2)
- Painter’s tape for outlining window shapes
- Decorative hardware (vintage or ornate pulls)
- Clear matte spray sealer (250 ml)
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Sand the dresser and coat it in a light grey chalk paint base. Let dry thoroughly.
Step 2: Tape off rectangles for windows and awnings. You need to paint glass areas white and outline them in black for definition.
Step 3: On the bottom drawer, sketch and paint a storefront. Then add details like baskets of fruit, a door, and signage for realism.
Step 4: Paint balcony railings and flower boxes above each window. You can use green and terracotta for foliage and pots.
Step 5: Replace drawer pulls with ornate hardware to resemble balcony railings or architectural ledges.
Step 6: Add finishing touches like tiny clotheslines, potted plants, or shading around windows for extra depth.
Step 7: Seal the entire piece with a matte sealer to protect the artwork and preserve the charm.
