Let’s face it: There are a lot of advice and viewpoints in the beauty world that are completely useless. Take everything with a grain of salt, whether it’s someone who says, “Girls look better with no makeup on,” or someone who always does things themselves. Everyone has their own perception of what is beautiful, so telling someone that theirs is not acceptable is wholly incorrect. A lot of beauty advice may also come off as unhelpful rather than being very useful to other people. Here are three unneeded and unwanted cosmetic advice ideas to avoid:
1. Applying Lemon Juice To The Face
It’s never a good idea to rub lemon on your face, even if you prefer to take a DIY approach to skincare. Due to their high acidity, lemons can dry out your skin, or worse, get into small cuts or make your acne worse. Instead of immediately putting it to your face, you can mix lemon juice with honey or dilute it with another product.
2. To Be Less “Loud,” Skip The Lipstick
Lipstick is enjoyable, and we need to stop believing the Victorian-era nonsense that it makes individuals appear “loud” or “available.” Instead, ignore what other people think and wear any color lipstick you choose. Go ahead and use red lipstick if you enjoy wearing it on dates. Because only products are intended to be “advertised,” those who claim that wearing cosmetics is “false advertising” obviously view those who do so as products.
3. Doesn’t Moisturize Oily Skin
Some people with oily skin may consider this a benefit because we don’t need to moisturize as frequently as people with dry skin, and our skin does better in the winter. But that doesn’t mean you should stop using moisturizer altogether. It would be preferable to use a water-based moisturizer instead because it is lighter and nourishes your skin without clogging your pores.
