Imagine sewing light itself into fabric. Each golden bead becomes a sunray, glowing brighter as they gather together.
The smiling face in the center adds charm, turning your sun into a companion that radiates warmth wherever you place it.
With every stitch, it feels as if you’re pulling sunlight into your hands, keeping a piece of the sky that never fades.
Materials Needed
- 80 gold bugle beads (size 6-7 mm)
- Seed beads in beige, black, and red (size 11/0, 5-10 grams each)
- Faceted sequins or round beads for eyes (2 pieces)
- Beading needle and strong thread (2-3 yards)
- Felt backing fabric (6”×6” piece)
- Embroidery hoop
- Scissors
Step-by-step Guide
Step 1: Clean your felt base, then stretch it tightly inside an embroidery hoop. Then draw a circle for the sun’s face and mark out the rays around it.
Step 2: Start with the center circle. Bring your needle up, add a few beige beads, and stitch them down in small curved rows. Continue filling until the face area is complete.
Step 3: Then create the facial features. Use black beads for eyebrows and eyes, red for lips, and add sequins or small beads to give the eyes extra sparkle.
Step 4: Next, move to the rays. Pick up one bugle bead and secure it so it stands neatly outward from the circle.
You now add a seed bead if needed to lock it in place. Repeat until all rays are stitched evenly around the sun.
Step 5: After the rays are done, outline the circle with an extra row of beads to strengthen the edge and define the shape.
Step 6: Finally, secure the thread with small knots on the back and trim neatly. Your radiant sun is now ready to shine on jackets, bags, or in a decorative frame.
Notes
If you want extra glow, mix two shades of gold bugle beads for the rays. This adds depth and gives your sun embroidery a shimmering, moving light effect.
